President of Mozambique Is the Only Head of State Invited by the World Bank to Global Forum

Mozambican President Daniel Chapo has been invited by the World Bank to co-chair the opening session of the 2026 Fragility Forum, becoming the only Head of State selected to participate in the launch of one of the world’s leading events focused on fragility, security, and conflict.

The forum will take place in Washington, D.C., bringing together approximately 3,000 participants, including government leaders, private sector representatives, civil society organizations, academics, and international financial institutions.

President Chapo will share Mozambique’s experience in conflict prevention and management, peacebuilding, and community resilience, areas in which the country has gained growing international recognition.

His participation alongside World Bank Group President Ajay Banga reflects international recognition of Mozambique’s efforts to address the challenges of peace, security, and sustainable development.

Held under the theme “Transformative Action for the World’s Most Complex Places,” the 2026 Fragility Forum aims to strengthen collaboration, knowledge sharing, and coordinated action among global partners working in fragile and conflict-affected settings.

President Chapo’s invitation highlights Mozambique’s increasing role in international discussions on peace, resilience, and inclusive development.
